Famous Masons
Webmasters Note: The following is a short list of Masons who have gained notoriety during or after their lifetime. There is no pretense with the following being anywhere near exhaustive. One publication has listed over 10,000 "Famous Masons." The purpose of this list is to briefly point out to those willing to observe, Masonry is a fraternal organization composed of main stream people from all walks of life; scientists, artists, comedians,  musicians, presidents, clergy, inventors, generals, actors and even those who work in outer space.

A well known personality was quoted almost 30 years ago in Sioux Falls (Unity Lodge 130 country) as having said "there are no great people alive today."  Was he unaware of the Masons? Was he just being humble or philosophical or rhetorical?    Paul, should you see this, take a look and see with whom you share company. While you may not consider yourself to be great, you certainly are famous. The rest of the story, er, the rest of those on the list would probably agree with that about themselves as well.

While looking at these names, may I request of you to be mindful of the difference between being famous and being great? Masonry isn't about one Mason trying to be better than another Mason. Nor is Masonry about Masons trying to be better than non-masons. The image above conveys the point.
