Incorporated in August 1929, The Order of the Golden Chain is a group of Master Masons and their immediate female relatives. Members maintain the philosophy of teaching, hold that people should live together as Sisters and Brothers under the Parenthood of God, and by so living, the whole world may learn from the example set for it by the Order. Thus, by imitation, its message will make the world the place it was meant to be. Originally Chartered in New Jersey, the Order has Chapters or "Links" in New York, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Rhode Island, Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Michigan, each of which was issued it's respective charter by the "Grand Link", the governing body.

The organization received many citations from the Red Cross during World War II for its contributions toward the war effort. In addition, the Order was responsible for sponsoring the sale of over $4,000,000 in War Bonds and thereafter honored by the United States government.

In 1950, the organization opened a camp in Blairstown, New Jersey, near the Delaware Water Gap for underprivileged children. Each year, over 400 children are treated to an otherwise unaffordable experience.

The Girls of the Golden Court, composed of young ladies between the ages of 12 and 18, was organized under the sponsorship of the Order of the Golden Chain.

Additional philanthropies include supporting charities dedicated to understanding, preventing, and treating childhood cancers, physical and learning disabilities, and deafness.
